| Icon Tutorial #1 |
|
Note: I used Corel Paint Shop Pro for this tutorial. It will work with any paint shop pro or adobe photoshop version. Go from this to this ![]() 1. Take the image you wish to use for your icon, and crop/resize it so it is 100 x 100 pixels. 2. Sharpen the image once, (Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen) then duplicate the base, twice. 3. Set the first duplicate to Screen 50% opacity, and the second to Screen 100% opacity. Then duplicate the base again, set it to soft light and drag to the top of all layers. You should now have 4 layers. 4. Create a new layer. (Layers > New Raster Layer) Fill it with a dark blue and set it to Exclusion at about 60%. 5. Create a new layer on top of that. Fill it with a pinkish color and set it to Burn at about 30%. 6. Create another new layer. Fill it with a brown color and set it to Multiply at about 15%. 7. Merge all layers together. (layers > merge > visible) 8. Duplicate the image and set to Screen. 9. Now you should have a beautiful icon! Add text, textures, brushes, or whatever you want to it. |
