| Icon Tutorial #2 |
|
Note: I used Corel Paint Shop Pro for this tutorial. It will work with any paint shop pro or adobe photoshop version. Go from this to this ![]() 1. Take the image you wish to use for your icon, and crop/resize it so it is 100 x 100 pixels. 2. Sharpen your image once by going Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen. 3. Duplicate your layer once by choosing Layers > Duplicate. 4. Set the duplicated layer to Screen 100%. 5. Now we are going to desaturate it. Go Adjust > Hue/Saturation > Colorize. Set your Hue at 0 and your Saturation at 0. Click OK. 6. Make a new layer below the desaturated one. Use your flood fill tool to fill it with a dark grey color. I used #808080. Set this layer to Burn 100%. 7. Finally, duplicate your original image and drag to the very top of the layers list. Set to Overlay at 100%. 9. Merge all layers together by choosing Layers > Merge > Merge Visible. |
